This plant spreads non-aggressively by rhizomes and is an ecological powerhouse.
Dense Blazing star is a specialist host for several moths, meaning they feed exclusively on it. Blazing star also feeds butterflies, such as the Monarch, and provides winter food for songbirds that eat its seeds.
